❤️ I'm thrilled to share that I've reached 40% of my Earth's Diameter Challenge – walking the full 7,926 miles around our planet!
Bluewater, Kent's largest shopping destination, might seem an unlikely choice for a walking milestone, but the area offers surprising opportunities for accessible walking amid beautifully landscaped surroundings. The parkland setting, with its lakes and managed green spaces, provides well-maintained paths perfect for steady, contemplative movement.

I paused by one of the lakes, watching the water reflect the sky and the surrounding trees. Even in this engineered landscape, nature finds ways to assert itself – birds nest in the trees, insects buzz among the flowers in planted borders, and the water teems with life.
Reaching 40% feels significant. I'm now more than a third of the way through my challenge, with 3,170 miles logged over 731 days. That's exactly two years of consistent walking, each day adding its contribution to the total. The commitment required becomes clearer at this stage – this isn't a sprint but a marathon of marathons, requiring sustained effort and dedication.
Walking in places like Bluewater reminds me that outdoor activity doesn't always mean wilderness adventures. Sometimes the most important thing is to keep moving, to maintain the habit of walking regardless of the setting. The Earth's Diameter Challenge is about accumulating steps, miles, and days of activity – and any safe, comfortable path can serve that purpose.

The August day was warm but pleasant, with clouds providing welcome shade between periods of sunshine. The weather was ideal for a longer walk – not too hot, with a gentle breeze keeping the air comfortable.
I explored the paths that wind around the Bluewater complex and through the surrounding parkland. These routes are designed for easy walking, with perfectly paved surfaces and gentle gradients. The landscaping is impressive, with mature trees providing shade, and the man-made lakes offering peaceful water views that attract swans, ducks, and other waterfowl.
What I appreciated about this location was its accessibility and the care taken to create a walkable space. The paths are wide enough for comfortable strolling, with benches placed at regular intervals for rest and contemplation. While surrounded by modern development, the area maintains pockets of green tranquillity.

The surrounding area, though developed, still connects to the broader Kent landscape. Beyond the commercial centre, paths lead into genuine countryside, and the North Downs are visible in the distance. This intersection of modern life and natural world is where most of us actually live, and learning to find beauty and opportunity for movement in these spaces is essential.
As I walked, I thought about the over 7 million steps I've taken to reach this point. Each one was a choice to move, to engage, to stay committed to this challenge. Each one brought me incrementally closer to my goal.
Every step brings me closer to this incredible goal – and reminds me why I love inspiring others to get active outdoors. Let's keep moving!
Insha'Allah, the finish line awaits at 7,926 miles.
