I took frequent breaks on benches thoughtfully placed along the route, perfect spots to sit and contemplate the 1,222 miles now behind me. The views from the lodges' elevated position stretched across the picturesque Derbyshire Dales – rolling green hills that seemed to go on forever, punctuated by dry stone walls and grazing sheep.
What I love about Sandybrook is its accessibility. The paths require no special skills or equipment, just comfortable walking shoes and an appreciation for nature's beauty. The park's location means you're surrounded by countryside yet never far from comfort and facilities.
As I walked, I reflected on the 273 days of consistent movement that brought me here. The bluebell wood seemed to celebrate with me, nature's own expression of beauty and perseverance. Each tree, each flower, each blade of grass seemed to whisper encouragement: keep going, one step at a time.

❤️ I'm thrilled to share that I've reached 15% of my Earth's Diameter Challenge – walking the full 7,926 miles around our planet! Nestled in the southern Peak District near Ashbourne, Sandybrook Country Park offered a delightful change of scenery for this milestone walk. The historic grounds, once part of a 19th-century manor house, now provide a peaceful haven for those seeking natural beauty without extreme terrain.
The morning I chose for this walk blessed me with that rare combination: comfortable temperatures, gentle sunshine, and just enough breeze to keep the air fresh. I set out through the park's woodland walk, a carefully maintained path that meanders through an enchanting bluebell wood – a historic pinetum filled with fine specimen trees.
The path surface was wonderfully even, winding between mature trees whose branches filtered the sunlight into dappled patterns on the ground below. In May, nature was at its most generous – bluebells carpeted the woodland floor in waves of purple-blue, their sweet scent hanging in the air. This is walking at its most peaceful, where the only sounds are birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves.
The beauty of the Peak District landscape, even from these gentle paths, is truly inspiring. It's a reminder that you don't need to conquer mountains to find peace and beauty outdoors – sometimes the most memorable walks are the ones that let you be present in nature's embrace.
Every step brings me closer to this incredible goal – and reminds me why I love inspiring others to get active outdoors. Let's keep moving!
Insha'Allah, the finish line awaits at 7,926 miles.
